The Horn is the way to go. Nestled on Murfreesboro Pike, it is easy to miss. It is a cultural gem, with authentic African cuisines and coffee grounds.
I absolutely love this spot, there's plenty of open seating--perfect for meeting to work on a group project, study, and hang out with a group of friends. The staff are all very friendly, and love opening their doors to community members.
It's not a Frothy Monkey, there's no frills here, but that makes it even more unique. I absolutely recommend that you check out this coffee shop, the sooner the better because you are truly missing out on a great spot in Nashville! -

This little coffee place is in my way to and from work. I stopped by with my wife because she loves chai teas from Starbucks and wanted to try the chai tea here. As it turns out, they have a Somalian chai tea, which tastes great!
I'm more of a coffee guy myself and I give high praise to the mocha latte, iced. Every time I go in , there's a new pastry by the checkout counter to try. That's how they get me, as I can't resist ordering what's in the glass cake display.
I've only ever met one staff person, as I usually go in at the same time daily. Ahmed is extremely friendly and super welcoming. The way he treats my wife and I as customers is a huge reason for why we keep on returning. That, and the deliciously made beverages that can be customized with various types of milk or other choices. Come here, you won't regret it. -

This is by far one of the best coffee shops in nashville, PERIOD. The price point, quality, and the welcoming vibes is nothing but incredible.
I got the iced Somali chai, and a egg & cheese croissant (no pic because it was so good.) I would also recommend their quesadillas (secret menu).
By far this is one of the most lowkey, underrated coffee shops in nashville! -

What a nice find. 4 of us had some time to kill after landing in Nashville. Having never been here, we wanted something other than that big chain coffee guy, so we stopped in here. Boy, we're glad we did. The guy behind the counter, Zacariah, walked us through all the foods and what they were. We picked up some Sambusa's, both beef and chicken...absolutely amazing. The iced white mocha latte was spot on and my regular latte was perfect. Gotta say, Zacariah added a personal touch that you just wont get any where else. Great service, great food, and great coffee = a winning combination.

HIDDEN GEM ALERT!!!
Even though I've lived here since 1994, Nashville simply continues to amaze me. The old Nashville was a big city masquerading as a small town. But the new Nashville is a vibrant metropolis with an eclectic nationally-recognized culinary scene, covering the full spectrum from fine restaurants run by heralded chefs to hole-in-the-wall joints with outstanding food.
The eccentricity of Nashville's cuisine has blossomed far beyond hot chicken, barbecue, and biscuits. And a pivotal part of this scene is inspired by the influx of Central Americans, Southeast Asians, and Northeast Africans who have brought their country's delicious recipes with them.
On a tip from a friend, and motivated by the near-perfect online ratings, I stopped by The Horn for some authentic Somali food at this nondescript coffee shop on Murfreesboro Road. The cafe is aptly named after the peninsular region of Northeast Africa punctuated by the country of Somalia, and their specialty is a wonderful treat known as Sambusa!
These large triangular pockets of deliciousness resemble empanadas in Latin American cuisine or samosas in Indian cooking. Crispy pastry encompasses various mixtures with phenomenal flavors! Whether you're eating the traditional ground beef, the curried chicken, or the vegetable medley, each concoction is pleasantly spicy, impeccably fresh, and addictively scrumptious! Ask for the chipotle jalapeño sauce for the perfect complement to your food!
The baked sweets are equally unbelievable and the teas and coffees are spectacular! A properly run cafe has free WiFi, a cozy interior, and tasty treats. Check, check, and check. Try the Oreo I walked away with four large sambusas and two baked goods for barely more than $10! The Horn is absolutely worth a visit!!!
